Q&A: What documentation is required for paying health insurance by credit card?

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

Question by StephenWeinstein: What documentation is required for paying health insurance by credit card?
Blue Cross charges my health insurance premium to my credit card each month automatically. I do not sign a separate credit card authorization each month and I do not get a receipt. Will the credit card statements be enough for tax purposes, or do I need to request an actual receipt from the insurance company?

Best answer:

Answer by tma
Yes. You wouldn’t need to show proof unless you were examined or audited, and the credit card statements would suffice as proof of payment.

Whats the difference between this board and the Mental Health Board?

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

Question by Vivian: Whats the difference between this board and the Mental Health Board?
I always thought the mental health board and the psychology board were very similar. What topics are discussed here that make it different from the mental health board?

Best answer:

Answer by senlin
You get a broader range of questions on the Psychology board. For example, questions about operant and classical conditioning, experimental design, training in psychology, etc. I think on the mental health board you get more questions about specific mental health problems and difficulties and less on theory. And you get a lot of folks asking psychology homework questions here, lol.

How do I get health insurance in Canada if I am not yet a Permanent Resident qualifying for OHIP?

Saturday, December 10th, 2011

Question by Ryan: How do I get health insurance in Canada if I am not yet a Permanent Resident qualifying for OHIP?
I am a US citizen living in Ontario waiting for my permanent residency to be approved. I would like to purchase health insurance to cover me for the time period until I am approved for the Ontario Health coverage. I don’t see this period being more than a year. Are there any companies that offer health insurance to non-Canadian permanent resident in the immigration process? I also do not yet have a SIN number.
I am documented and have over 5 months left on my 6 month visitor allowance. Everything is in legal standing. I have already submitted for permanent residency and have paid fees. What companies offer private insurance to non-residents?

Best answer:

Answer by Lori
If you are in Canada legally you are eligible for health care after 3 months.

Why is paying extra taxes to help others have health care a bad thing? If you lost your job, wouldn’t you want others to pay taxes to help you afford health insurance?
Robert O- And, what if somebody led a healthy lifestyle but just happened to get cancer and can’t afford health insurance?

Curt J- And so what if I do? I will bet you think the same thing about yourself.

What makes you think the federal government can provide health care at a lower cost?

Friday, December 9th, 2011

Question by Alana: What makes you think the federal government can provide health care at a lower cost?
Everything they do turns into a money pit. Wouldnt the usual government waste cancel out any saving from removing profit from health care?

What have you seen the federal government do that gives you enough confidence in them to believe they can efficiently run health care for 300 million people?

Best answer:

Answer by Bryan
Reality makes me think that. Here’s the proof:

You get rid of the profit motive, and all the paperwork that insurance companies cause, and you save a lot of money.

How can Obama argue with a straight face that health care reform is essential to economic recovery?

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

Question by MichelleMalkin: How can Obama argue with a straight face that health care reform is essential to economic recovery?
Using better-than-expected jobs numbers to press his top domestic priority, President Barack Obama is arguing that overhauling the health care system is essential to the country’s economic well-being.

Republicans countered that the high unemployment rate — 9.4 percent in July — shows how families and businesses are struggling and that Obama’s reliance on a large government role in expanding health coverage is the wrong approach.
