What costs should I consider for health benefits when negotiating my salary?

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

Question by MM: What costs should I consider for health benefits when negotiating my salary?
I don’t know how expensive it is for a company in general to add an employee to their health plan; and I am trying to figure out a negotiation price for my salary, can you give me some help on this. How much “benefit costs” should i consider in relation to my salary?
Its a mid-small sized company with about 40 employees

Best answer:

Answer by OK_yeah_well_whatever
Insurance costs will vary by size of the organization (and thus their negotiating leverage), as well as by your region of the country. I’d count on your total benefits package to add somewhere between 25% to 33% on top of your salary.

Your mileage may vary.

What are the benefits or health factors of being a teacher?

Question by em.four: What are the benefits or health factors of being a teacher?
What are the benefits or health factors of being a teacher? Websites would be awesome- or if you just want to list some factors that would be great too… Thank you!
Oh sorry- I should have said in Virginia. I looked on the VDOE website, but it wasn’t very helpful.

Best answer:

Answer by Missing Him
There aren’t many. Trust me.
Benefits are different for each state, but over here teachers get full health coverage, but it’s very expensive, unless you have 6+ kids, cause it’s a family coverage. Then full dental, again, family coverage. The pay is ranging from ,000 to ,000 yearly. The lowest starts for new teachers. And a lot of teachers have to work to jobs to make ends meet. It’s a tough job, and only for the people who love kids and helping the community. Don’t look at it like you have the summer’s off because you don’t. You have meetings, and room set up during the summer. Not to mention the extra classes to keep you up to date on the latest teaching materials. You will have crazy parents come in and yell at you if their kid is upset so be prepared. Good luck.

Q&A: What health benefits are offered to psychiatrists?

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Question by yagamimax: What health benefits are offered to psychiatrists?
There are a lot of health benefits and a lot of places that offer them. I just cant seem to find them on Google though especially for psychiatrists. What are the health benefits offered to psychiatrist or to anyone in general.

Best answer:

Answer by Tyler
Well the health benefits for a psychiatrist is what they buy themselves. Usually they are their own bosses so most of the time they have to pay for their own health care. If they were to work for somebody or a hospital then they may be offered benefits. Good luck! Hope I helped! Please mark as best answer if it is. Any other questions feel free to message me. Tyler

Under ObamaCare, will Veterans with health care benefits already provided for, be required to buy NEW policy?

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Question by John S.: Under ObamaCare, will Veterans with health care benefits already provided for, be required to buy NEW policy?
Obama keeps promising that if you have a health care policy now, you can keep it under the proposed health care reform bills being considered. But are these bills planning to revise Veteran’s health care benefits such that, whereas they paid little to nothing before except for small co-pays, now they will have to buy an additional policy to generate money to help pay for those that are not covered?

How will Veteran’s health care benefits be affected by ObamaCare?

Question by Seeker1898: Are police officer pensions, health and other benefits great after 25 years of service?
Hi all! I’m planning on becoming a police officer and I’m already in the process of really researching the career out from top to bottom. Are police officer pensions and benefits great after 25 years of service? In general, in today’s dollars and excluding future inflation, could I expect to get at least ,500 per month after retirement in net pay plus great health and other benefits? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Answer by Mr.PainTrain
Well I can tell you this, at the federal level it is outstanding, not sure about the local and state level. Economists believe that law enforcement is the only true recession proof career! America needs good people because we have some trying times ahead. The best advice I can give you regarding retirement is contribute heavily to your 401K!

Q&A: What are the specific health benefits of owning a dog?

Sunday, July 17th, 2011

Question by Dellajoy: What are the specific health benefits of owning a dog?
Some guy wrote a letter to the editor complaining about people who pay so much attention to their dogs and spend money on them when there are charities that need help. Some people have written in to tell him that while they own dogs they also contribute to charities, etc and how dare he tell them what their hobbies should be. I’d like to write a short response of my own mentioning health benefits since no one has touched on that subject yet.
