Question by joezen777: What is the best type of health insurance for getting kids ready for school?
What is the best type of health insurance I can get to help my kids go to the doctor, get checkups and vaccines, and have them ready for school? Or like if they break their arm on the playground or something? Anything else I should be thinking of as to why I should get insurance for my kids before they go back to school? Sorry, lot of questions but I appreciate your help. Thanks

What have they had up until now for health insurance? They should have had insurance since birth, not just at age 5 for school.
There is no “best insurance”. It’s all indicative of what you are willing, or can spend. There are free or low cost publicly funded state health plans if you’re low income, that have their own stipulations and rules on where you go, what they pay for etc. In many states, the care is low to average at best. Then there are top notch and expensive private insurance plans. Does your employer off health care benefits? That’s usually the way to go.

Question by alana_md: Can being a living kidney donor affect my chances of getting health insurance later in life?
I am planning on donating one of my kidneys to my best friend in the near future. All testing has shown that we would be a great match (yay!). My concern is that once I do go through with the donation, will it affect my ability to get health insurance later on? I currently am without health insurance. Can/ or will I be denied health insurance because of this? Thanks for your advice!

Answer by patriotpoolpres
You should get insurance before you have this done, in case the donation doesn’t go well and you need additional care. Also, if you are insured before you donate, they’re less likely to exempt you since it won’t be a “pre-existing condition”.
Find a good insurance agent who deals with individual policies a lot, they should be able to answer your questions and hook you up with a policy you can afford. They should also be able to tell you how you can write your premium payments off at the end of the tax year.
You’re a very kind and generous person to give your friend a kidney! My hat is off to you.

You cant’t get insured if your pregnant (considered pre existing) however there are plans through your state that may be able to help you. If you go to a local pregnancy / womens clinic they should lead you in the right direction.

Question by marisam: How can I find a health insurance provider that will cover costs for getting Accutane?
Hi, I have never bought health insurance before, and I would like to know how I could find out if a particular health insurance provider would cover the costs of me going to a dermatologist and getting Accutane. Can anyone help me?
Best answer:
Answer by cam
That could be a difficult task, asides from sitting there and calling all the insurance plans around you can try contacting the company that makes it and see if it is one of the medications the patient assistance program covers.

Question by United: What are the negative health effects of not getting enough sleep?
First, I do not have insomnia, I can sleep just fine, I am just choosing not to because I can. I can stay up for two days at a time without any trouble, and I don’t use any drugs to keep me awake. Now, I am not even tired when I go to sleep at the end of the 2nd day, but I go to sleep anyway because I know I should. I have been doing this for about a month, and it appears to have no effect on my health. I exercise every day and eat right, I just think that this may somehow effect my health in the long run. Is there anything I need to worry about?
Best answer:
Answer by libby
I saw something in a newspaper about a year ago about a woman in Japan who was 110 years old. She claimed she only slept every OTHER night and she attributed her longevity to her alternative sleeping preferences. So, maybe you’re on the right track.
