There’s a book, “Life Disrupted” by Laurie Edwards (250 pages) that is about living with chronic illness in your 20s and 30s. Its a good book and a fast read (I read it in one sitting and am not an avid reader). It goes into what its really like and what people’s life is like when they live with chronic illnesses. For a kid your age, it would be an eye opener for what other people deal with.

Question by the cleaner: Which company should a life and health agent choose to make good money with?
I live in texas and licensed in both TX and CA in Life and Health. What is a good company to start selling insurance with? I don’t want the lead cost to bury me in bills and residual income from my renewals I want annually to build a good book of business. What company should I go with? Are there several good ones to choose from? I need to work now! Thank you in advance.

Do you actually have any, offering you appointments?
The company doesn’t matter so much, as long as they are A rated. NONE of them will provide you with leads, and purchased leads, IMO, are worthless.
Making good money, is more about being able to drum up leads and close the deal . . . not the company it’s with.

Question by Care4USA: What are some good ways to finance universal health care?
Public schools and colleges have certainly not killed private schools and colleges, so I don’t think a universal health plan will kill private plans either. And both are in the general public interest since contagious sick people infect others, and all sick working adults cost their companies money by missing work. Personally, I’d like to see taxes on unhealthy fats and sugars to help pay for health care. What are your suggestions?
Best answer:

I am not sure there is a very “good” way. But the only solution that I see is increased taxes on things that cause poor health:
1. Smoking
2. Gasoline
3. Alcohol

Question by happygirl49221: How can anyone deny someone health insurance and feel good about it?
The whole idea that Obama is trying to get healthcare for all is wonderful and he will not give up. I am so proud. How does anyone else feel about it? If someone believes different I would like to know why..I feel its a moral obligation to take care of our own. As people are dying everyday because they have no health insurance.I have been answering all these questions and decided to ask my own.I truely would like to hear a good reason why someone couldnt care less about another person.

Why should I have to pay for someone else? Health care is a privilege not a right. We should take all the weak non working losers who can’t pay for themselves out on an island somewhere and leave them there. Born blind? Too bad. Born to a crack addicted hooker? Too bad. Couldn’t afford an education? Too bad. Mentally disabled? Too bad. Life isn’t some joy ride where everything is peachy. It’s tough, and people need to either pull themselves up by the bootstraps or just lay down. Let those of us who have it good keep having it good in peace.
Good day.
I hope you caught the irony.
On a more serious note:
The tax system in our country is in shambles, and our priorities are backwards. Corporations run amok. One need only look at the systematic denial of insurance claims in the name of profits. How much is enough? What I don’t understand is how people, individuals, can sit back and justify it. Why doesn’t every individual see that corporations have too much power? I don’t know if you read the stories coming out of Florida about homeowners who bought houses built with toxic drywall from China being denied insurance claims and then dropped after making them, but it’s disgusting. Why should the homeowner be punished for a technicality in the contract? In a rational America, the Insurance company would be obligated to repair the damage (the point of having insurance) and then the appropriate person would be billed afterward.
It is no strange thing that the insurance companies are fighting this legislation, they don’t want to be in a spot where they have to cut profits, even if its the right thing to do. Let’s hope that the right thing is finally done and corporations are put in their place.

Question by ashley b: What is a good health insurance for children with special needs?
My son is on a feeding tube due to a small bowel transplant he received last year. My husband and I are returning to a full work schedule and our health insurance (Tricare) does not cover a nurse for him, or special daycare because his only special need is the feeding tube and the medication he receives through it. Apparently that’s not enough. So is there a good company that I can purchase insurance through who will cover these types of things for him?
Best answer:
Answer by james m
I’m sorry to hear about your son being in this condition.
There is not a company that will insure him to cover the medical problems that he has, that I know of. There are some which say they are guaranteed issue, and cover pre-existing conditions, but they are not Major Medical coverages, which you need.
You may google “Guaranteed Issue health Insurance” and take a look.
Contact the State Department of Health and Human Services. I’m sure you could get a medical card for him.
Best wishes, and God bless.
