Question by StephenWeinstein: What documentation is required for paying health insurance by credit card?
Blue Cross charges my health insurance premium to my credit card each month automatically. I do not sign a separate credit card authorization each month and I do not get a receipt. Will the credit card statements be enough for tax purposes, or do I need to request an actual receipt from the insurance company?
Best answer:
Answer by tma
Yes. You wouldn’t need to show proof unless you were examined or audited, and the credit card statements would suffice as proof of payment.

Question by Ryan: How do I get health insurance in Canada if I am not yet a Permanent Resident qualifying for OHIP?
I am a US citizen living in Ontario waiting for my permanent residency to be approved. I would like to purchase health insurance to cover me for the time period until I am approved for the Ontario Health coverage. I don’t see this period being more than a year. Are there any companies that offer health insurance to non-Canadian permanent resident in the immigration process? I also do not yet have a SIN number.
I am documented and have over 5 months left on my 6 month visitor allowance. Everything is in legal standing. I have already submitted for permanent residency and have paid fees. What companies offer private insurance to non-residents?
Best answer:
Answer by Lori
If you are in Canada legally you are eligible for health care after 3 months.

Why is paying extra taxes to help others have health care a bad thing? If you lost your job, wouldn’t you want others to pay taxes to help you afford health insurance?
Robert O- And, what if somebody led a healthy lifestyle but just happened to get cancer and can’t afford health insurance?
Curt J- And so what if I do? I will bet you think the same thing about yourself.

Question by Pascha: Why is Obama not willing to increase the deficit one penny for health insurance?
Is health insurance less important than the bailout of banks, auto makers, etc, which has already increased our deficit many billions?
Is the forced subsidy of health insurance by those who don’t want health insurance a new indirect tax to pay for Obama’s plan?

Question by luckyboi317: What private health insurance programs cover gastric bypass?
I’ve got group health and found out that only employer insurance programs through them include bariatric coverage. Does anyone know of a health insurance program that covers gastric bypass which I can buy on my own without needing to do so through an employer?
Best answer:
Answer by Zarnev
That will depend upon in which state you reside.
If you live in a guaranteed issue state I don’t think any of them cover the surgery. If you don’t live in a guaranteed issue state there may or may not be plans that cover the surgery. The problem you’ll have, though, is if your BMI is enough that you are actually medically eligible for the surgery your height and weight will be way above the height and weight guidelines of every insurance company.

What have they had up until now for health insurance? They should have had insurance since birth, not just at age 5 for school.
There is no “best insurance”. It’s all indicative of what you are willing, or can spend. There are free or low cost publicly funded state health plans if you’re low income, that have their own stipulations and rules on where you go, what they pay for etc. In many states, the care is low to average at best. Then there are top notch and expensive private insurance plans. Does your employer off health care benefits? That’s usually the way to go.
