Question by Young man: How do I go about getting health insurance under my parents if I am a full time student?
I didn’t know that if I was a full time student, then I can still be under my parents health insurance. Does anyone know how I go about getting back on their plan? Any advice/tips are appreciated.

Q&A: How can low income people buy health insurance under the plan being voted on?

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

Question by Curious: How can low income people buy health insurance under the plan being voted on?
If we are to have mandatory health insurance, how will low income people pay for it? I’m already struggling with what little I have now. I can’t afford to take on anymore. I know we can still go to our doctor of choice but, but again how will we pay for this insurance?? Also I have never had any sort of medical insurance just for the fact I can’t afford any.

The intention is to provide federal subsidies of some sort to assist lower income people in purchasing health insurance. The details are not all worked out at this point, since the bill still needs approval in the Senate (which will undoubtedly challenge the House version.) Keep watching for the final result of the bill.

Under ObamaCare, will Veterans with health care benefits already provided for, be required to buy NEW policy?

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Question by John S.: Under ObamaCare, will Veterans with health care benefits already provided for, be required to buy NEW policy?
Obama keeps promising that if you have a health care policy now, you can keep it under the proposed health care reform bills being considered. But are these bills planning to revise Veteran’s health care benefits such that, whereas they paid little to nothing before except for small co-pays, now they will have to buy an additional policy to generate money to help pay for those that are not covered?

How will Veteran’s health care benefits be affected by ObamaCare?

Question by wittygee: What happens to single poor people under the health care bill?
Currently, single people who have no income are not eligible for Medicare. They have no health care coverage. Will this stay the same under the new health care bill. I believe the answer is yes, but not sure.

How many realize their employer provided health care will be taxed under John McCain?

Saturday, June 25th, 2011

Question by der_bingle: How many realize their employer provided health care will be taxed under John McCain?
Talk about shifting the burden!!!!! As if our current health care system isn’t disastrous enough, those who are lucky enough to have health care through their employers will now be taxed for it. Since McCain doesn’t mention it often, I wonder how many people even realize this.

Q&A: What shall become of the health insurance plan structures and pricing under new Congressional law?

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Question by frog: What shall become of the health insurance plan structures and pricing under new Congressional law?
Has anyone been able to make sense of the new structures, regulations, and other stipulations under the Congressional health insurance law signed by Obama? What shall become of the health insurance plan structures and pricing under new Congressional law? How will we be able to make sense of it, and what is to come in the new year: and for people who can’t understand any of the changes, — what should they do, and why?

Well, the plan structure is going to have to change, to compensate for the inherent adverse selection issue.

And pricing will have to go up, to compensate for the removal of lifetime limits, and the coverage of preexisting conditions.

As no one has quite figured out what exactly the changes are going to BE, all we can do for now, is sit tight.

Me, I’d suggest some kind of pricing tier, where the price remains level when you’ve had prior coverage, but is drastically higher the first year, going down over the next four years, until you’ve had coverage in place five years. That way, the “adverse selection” people are actually encouraged to buy AND KEEP insurance in place. And the people who’ve played by the rules all along, aren’t exhorbitantly punished with dramatically increased rates.
